Surprise - a note from KS!

Well, we haven't fallen off the face of the earth. We seem to keep busy at this and that all the time. Everything is going well and we are gearing up for the windy Spring days. As most of you know, Debbie & Tony were here from last Tues until Fri. and Debbie helped me clean out my flower beds. I had squeaky cleaned the front bed last Fall, but I didn't clean the back ones that good. I love this time of year as everything comes back to life, just like the resurrection of Jesus. ;o)

Grandpa is in Russell, KS for an insurance meeting from Sun. - Wed. I was going to Downs to spend that time with my sisters. Aunt Liz called yesterday p.m. to tell me that Aunt Phyllis had the flu. So, I decided to give her another day to be feeling lots better. I'll drive to Downs early Tues. a.m. if I don't decide to go this p.m. I'll drive in the daylight, though, because of deer.

I think you all know that Aunt Debbie and Uncle Tony had an accident coming to Hill City. We are so thankful that God saved their lives and also the fellow in the other vehicle. What an awesome God we serve. Their time with us was short, but it's the quality not the quantity that is important. We sure did have fun, though.

Recently I made a couple pillows for part of Aunt Debbie's birthday gift. Her birthday isn't until April 27th, but we wanted to give her gift to her in person. ;o) I made them from scrapes left from their wedding quilt and then I had a couple of fabric pics left that I put on the pillows and kind of made a fabric frame around them. I forgot to take pics of them.

Oh, we had another answered prayer this past week as Aunt Jan and Joe, Tim & Pam's son, had a safe trip to and from Mexico. They went with the Mission's group from Jan's church. In about 3 - 4 days, they built a house for a family of seven. The organization they work with is Casa por Crista. It is so sad to see the living conditions of many of those people. This was Jan's third year to go and the first time for Joe.

Guess I've rambled on long enough for this time so I'll close and pray all is well with our "blog" family.

Just a Post

Oh my, it's been a long, long time since I posted. I wait so long in between times that I have to figure out how to do everything over again. He! He!

We had a nice Thanksgiving and Christmas with family. We went to Gene's (Jan's finance') for Thanksgiving. Daniel came to spend Christmas with us which was really nice, just the three of us - good bonding time. Tim and Pam's came after Christmas and we had a great time and Pam and Joe stayed longer and Joe even stayed longer, by himself, which was wonderful. We also had a Christmas gathering at Aunt Liz's in Downs with about 20 being there and had a lot of fun. The last Christmas gathering was in Salina at Jan's house which was another fun time enjoyed by all.

We wish all of you a Happy New Year for 2009 and pray this will be a peaceful, healthy and happy year for all of our family. ;o)

Grandpa is keeping very busy with his insurance adjusting work. I'm working on the family calendar and HOPE to finish it this week. It's not hard, just very time consuming.

We are going to Australia via a movie at the Hill City Theatre tonight. We are excited as it's been a long, long time since we went to a movie. I'm notorious for falling asleep so maybe I'll take a bottle of water with me to MAKE MYSELF STAY AWAKE. It's kind of ridiculous for paying to take a nap!!! He! He!

Tomorrow I have my Helianthus Club and am co-hostess. I'm making a fruit cocktail cake to serve. Our program is given by a couple who took a trip to Alaska so should be interesting. This is kind of busy week as Wed., I help with the Blood Mobile most of the day, followed by Bible Study and Choir practice. I'm thankful we can keep busy, though. I'll now attemp to add some pics. ;o)

October - Utah Trip ;o)

On October 11, Grandpa & I started our trip to Layton, UT to spend two weeks with Greg & April and their families. We had a wonderful time, safe travels, good food, lots of hugs and kisses and the whole nine yards! We got to help our little great grandson, Kamden, celebrate his 1st birthday. His Mama made the cutest monkey birthday cake and the party was held at Kamden's Grandpa & Grandma Terry's house. He is such a little sweetheart. ;o) We also got to keep him by ourselves while his Mama got her hair fixed. The next birthday party was for April and that was also fun. This was held at Brittany and Patrick's apartment. The last birthday we celebrated was an early party for Grandpa Terry (Doug). We had this at Greg & April's house. Soooo, we made homemade icecream THREE times and it sure was good each and every time! Greg & April and Doug & I spent four days in Moab, UT and we had a blast. We toured the Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park and saw so many beautiful sights. The red rocks are in all sizes and shapes and are awesome. We had picnic lunches when we got hungry and then always ate supper in town at one of the many, many good restaurants. We would eat breakfast at the condo we stayed at. The highlight of the Moab trip was an AIRPLANE RIDE OVER THE CANYONLANDS. It was definitely something else and I wasn't scared. The pilot was very experienced - 20 some years! One time when he was making a turn, I had kind of a funny feeling, but all in all, it was a lot of fun. We took lots of pics of the Moab trip, plus lots of pics of our whole UT trip. I'm having a little trouble in getting the icon to come up for posting pics so will have to work on that. I sure hope I can get the pics deal figured out so everybody can see them.
